Jerusalem: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem and held wide-ranging discussions on strengthening the India-Israel strategic partnership, expanding trade and technology cooperation, enhancing defence ties, and supporting peace and stability efforts in West Asia.
The high-level meeting marks another significant step in deepening bilateral ties between the two countries.
India-Israel Strategic Partnership Gets New Momentum
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi warmly recalled his historic 2017 visit to Israel and his previous interaction with President Herzog in Dubai in 2023.
Both leaders emphasized that elevating India-Israel relations to a “Special Strategic Partnership for Peace, Innovation and Prosperity” represents a new chapter in bilateral engagement. The move reflects deep mutual trust, shared democratic values, and a longstanding friendship between the two nations.
Cooperation in Trade, Technology and Defence
The leaders expressed satisfaction over ongoing collaboration in key sectors, including trade and technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, defence and security, and counter-terrorism cooperation.
India and Israel have steadily expanded cooperation in advanced technologies, start-up ecosystems, cybersecurity, and defence manufacturing, further strengthening their comprehensive partnership.
Discussion on Regional Issues and Gaza Peace Plan
Prime Minister Modi and President Herzog also exchanged views on regional developments of mutual interest.
The Prime Minister expressed support for the Gaza peace plan and conveyed satisfaction over progress in ongoing efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability in West Asia.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to promoting dialogue, stability, and cooperation in the region.
Tree Plantation Under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Initiative
Highlighting shared environmental values, Prime Minister Modi, along with President Herzog and the First Lady, planted a sapling in the gardens of the Presidential residence under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
The symbolic gesture underscored both countries’ commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Prime Minister Modi thanked President Herzog for the warm welcome and gracious hospitality extended during the visit, as well as for his continued support toward strengthening India-Israel relations.
