Kargil, March 18, 2026: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil, Ghulam Mohammad (JKAS), led a road clearance and sensitisation drive along the stretch from Iqbal Bridge to Pashkum via the TV Station to ensure smooth vehicular movement and remove encroachments.
Multi-Department Drive to Remove Encroachments
The drive was carried out in coordination with multiple departments, including:
- Office of the Naib Tehsildar, Kargil
- Municipal Committee
- Mechanical Department
- Kargil Police
Officials and field staff, along with heavy machinery, were deployed to:
- Clear road obstructions
- Remove construction materials
- Eliminate roadside encroachments
Prior Notices Ensured Smooth Operation
The administration had already issued instructions to shopkeepers and residents to remove belongings from roadsides in advance.
This proactive approach helped:
- Minimise disruption during the drive
- Ensure smoother execution of clearance operations
Machinery Deployed for Complete Clearance
As part of the ongoing effort:
- Machinery was used to clear leftover debris
- Footpaths and roadside areas were cleaned
- Remaining materials were removed to restore public spaces
