A one-day workshop on credit outreach and financial awareness for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) was successfully organised in Kargil under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme.
The programme was conducted on March 6, 2026, by the District Industries Centre Kargil as part of the LA-12 intervention, aimed at strengthening engagement between entrepreneurs and banking institutions.
Around 30 local MSME entrepreneurs, SHG members, and artisans from the handloom and handicrafts sector participated in the workshop.
Focus on Financial Awareness and Credit Facilities
The main objective of the workshop was to enhance awareness about credit facilities, government schemes, and financial procedures required for enterprise development.
Functional Manager of DIC Kargil, Mudassir Rahowf Wani, welcomed the participants and delivered a detailed presentation on the RAMP scheme. He highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the Industries Department to promote and support the growth of MSMEs in the region.
He also stressed the importance of formal registration, financial discipline, and access to institutional credit for strengthening the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Banking Sector Highlights Loan Opportunities
Lead District Manager (LDM) Kargil, Tsering Morup, informed participants about various bank credit schemes and financial products available for MSMEs and entrepreneurs.
He explained the procedures for availing bank loans, documentation requirements, and the role of banks in supporting small businesses in the region.
NABARD Initiatives for SHGs and Rural Enterprises
District Development Manager (DDM) of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Anub Tsetan Paljor, conducted an informative session on the organisation’s initiatives aimed at strengthening Self-Help Groups, cooperative institutions, and rural enterprises.
He highlighted financial support mechanisms and capacity-building programmes designed to support community-based organisations and entrepreneurs.
LRLM Creates Awareness About Livelihood Schemes
During the workshop, Mohd Ali from the Ladakh Rural Livelihoods Mission (LRLM) also addressed the participants.
He created awareness about various LRLM schemes and initiatives that support SHGs, rural entrepreneurs, and livelihood promotion activities in the region.
Platform for Interaction Between Entrepreneurs and Banks
The workshop served as a valuable platform for direct interaction between bankers, government officials, and entrepreneurs.
Participants actively engaged in discussions and sought clarification on loan procedures, documentation requirements, GST compliance, and available government support schemes.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, where resource persons addressed queries related to credit facilities, enterprise development, and MSME support programmes, helping participants better understand the opportunities available for expanding their businesses.
