Ladakh Chief Secretary Reviews Preparations for Sacred Buddha Relics Exposition at Jive-Tsal

Leh: Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh Ashish Kundra visited Jive-Tsal in Choglamsar to review preparations for the upcoming Holy Exposition of the Sacred Buddha Relics, scheduled to begin on May 1, 2026.

The inspection was conducted following a UT-level coordination committee meeting to ensure all arrangements are in place for the large number of devotees, pilgrims and tourists expected to attend the sacred event.

Review of Infrastructure and Crowd Management

During the visit, the Chief Secretary assessed the readiness of the venue and reviewed preparations related to infrastructure, crowd management, security arrangements, sanitation, parking facilities and overall logistical support.

Officials briefed him about the measures being taken to manage the expected surge in visitors and ensure the smooth conduct of the exposition.

Senior Officials Present During Inspection

The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Director General of Police Mukesh Singh, Administrative Secretary Tourism Sanjit Rodrigues, Deputy Commissioner Leh Romil Singh Donk, Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD), SSP Traffic Vikas Kumar, Superintending Engineer PWD, and other senior officials of the UT Administration.

Representatives from local organisations also participated in the inspection, including the President of the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) and the President of the Ladakh Gonpa Association (LGA), along with other community members.

Major Religious Event in Ladakh

The inspection was aimed at ensuring that all necessary arrangements are completed well in advance for the smooth organisation of the Sacred Buddha Relics Exposition, which is expected to attract thousands of devotees, pilgrims and tourists from across India and abroad.

Officials said coordinated efforts are being made by different departments and community organisations to ensure the successful conduct of the sacred event.
