PM Modi Highlights Marathwada’s Farming Issues, Criticizes MVA and Congress

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a public gathering in Parbhani, Maharashtra, voiced his concerns about the agricultural challenges in the Marathwada region. He criticized the Congress and the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) for their alleged lack of empathy towards the farmers’ struggles.

“Marathwada is primarily a farming region. The people here rely on crops like black cotton, soybean, and jowar bajra for their livelihood,” the Prime Minister stated, emphasizing the agricultural backbone of the region. However, he expressed his disappointment with the Congress and MVA, accusing them of failing to understand the farmers’ hardships.

Irrigation, according to the Prime Minister, is the region’s most pressing issue. He recalled the Jalyukt Shivar Scheme, a program launched during the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s tenure. The scheme aimed to make Maharashtra drought-free by 2019 by improving soil moisture in farms and rejuvenating water bodies.

However, the Prime Minister expressed his dismay over the MVA government’s decision to discontinue the scheme. “The MVA stopped this scheme,” he said, expressing concern over the potential impact on the farmers of Marathwada.

The Prime Minister’s comments come at a time when the agricultural sector is grappling with a multitude of challenges. His remarks have ignited a fresh discussion on the efficacy of the MVA government’s policies in addressing these issues.

The MVA government has yet to respond to the Prime Minister’s criticisms. The farming community and the people of Maharashtra are eagerly awaiting their response.
