Asia’s Largest Tulip Garden Opens in Srinagar; CM Omar Abdullah Inaugurates Tulip Show 2026

Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir: Asia’s largest tulip garden, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar, has opened for visitors, marking the beginning of the much-awaited Tulip Show 2026.

Located at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range and overlooking Dal Lake, the garden is fully prepared to welcome local, domestic, and international tourists during the spring season.


18 Lakh Tulips Bloom Across the Valley

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated the Tulip Show 2026 and took a tour of the garden. This year, around 18 lakh tulips of more than 70 varieties have been planted.

In addition to tulips, nearly one lakh other bulbous flowers such as daffodils, hyacinths, and narcissus have also been planted, adding vibrant colors to the valley’s spring landscape.


CM Omar Abdullah Invites Tourists

The Chief Minister appealed to tourists from across the country and around the world to visit Jammu & Kashmir during the spring season and experience its natural beauty.

He emphasized the importance of tourism in strengthening the region’s economy and promoting its scenic attractions.


Enhanced Visitor Experience and New Attractions

Director Floriculture Kashmir, Mat Hoora Masoom, highlighted the various features of the Tulip Show 2026 and the innovative measures taken to enhance visitor experience.

Officials also noted that several offbeat tourist destinations have been added to Kashmir’s tourism circuit to attract more visitors and encourage longer stays.


Record Footfall Expected in 2026

The tulip garden has witnessed record-breaking footfall in recent years. In 2025, over 8.55 lakh visitors, including locals and tourists, visited the garden, surpassing previous records.

Authorities are hopeful that the Tulip Show 2026 will further boost tourism in the Kashmir region and attract an even larger number of visitors.


Boost to Kashmir Tourism

The opening of the tulip garden marks the beginning of the peak tourist season in Kashmir. With its scenic beauty, colorful blooms, and improved facilities, the region is expected to see a significant rise in tourist arrivals.
