PM Modi Advocates for Shared Resilience, Highlights Support for Vulnerable States

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has underscored the imperative of shared resilience and emphasized the critical need to support the most vulnerable, particularly small island developing states highly susceptible to disasters. In a recent address, PM Modi articulated the necessity of collective efforts to bolster resilience and aid those facing heightened risks.

“To achieve shared resilience, we must support the most vulnerable,” stated PM Modi, drawing attention to the initiatives spearheaded by the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI). The CDRI, through its concerted efforts, is funding projects across 13 such vulnerable regions, aiming to enhance their ability to withstand and recover from disasters.

Among the initiatives supported by the CDRI are resilient housing projects in Dominica, the development of a resilient transport network in Papua New Guinea, and the implementation of advanced early warning systems in the Dominican Republic and Fiji. These endeavors aim to fortify the infrastructure of these regions, enabling them to better cope with the impacts of disasters.

PM Modi’s remarks underscore India’s steadfast commitment to global cooperation and shared resilience in the face of escalating climate-related disasters. His call to action serves as a poignant reminder of the urgent need to extend support to vulnerable regions and collectively strive towards a more resilient future.

The CDRI’s initiatives in small island developing states stand as a testament to the potential of international collaboration in building disaster-resilient infrastructure. As these projects progress, they are poised to serve as invaluable models for similar endeavors worldwide, contributing to a global movement towards enhanced disaster resilience.

In concluding his address, PM Modi reiterated, “Our collective resilience hinges on supporting the most vulnerable. Together, we can forge a more resilient world.” His words echo the sentiment of unity and solidarity necessary to confront the challenges posed by climate change and build a safer, more resilient future for all.
