PM Modi Pays Tribute to Balasaheb Thackeray’s Ideals Amidst Political Discord

Date:

In a recent dialogue with the Lokmat Media Group, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his profound respect for the late Shiv Sena founder, Balasaheb Thackeray. He underscored Balasaheb’s steadfast commitment to national interests and his firm opposition to appeasement politics.

“Balasaheb was one of the most pivotal and influential leaders in our country’s history,” PM Modi declared. He also emphasized that he has always maintained a respectful rapport with every member of Balasaheb’s family, regardless of the political dynamics.

However, PM Modi voiced his apprehensions over the current political landscape. He pondered over how Balasaheb would have reacted to the present state of affairs, especially the denigration of Veer Savarkar and the glorification of Aurangzeb. He also expressed his disapproval of alliances being formed with parties that disrespect Sanatana Dharma.

“Mumbai and its people were cherished by Balasaheb,” PM Modi observed. He questioned how Balasaheb would have reacted to the use of those convicted in the Mumbai bomb blasts for political campaigning, or to alliances with those who openly express their intent to dismantle Sanatan Dharma.

The Prime Minister concluded his interview with a thought-provoking question: “Can anyone claim to be upholding the legacy of Balasaheb after doing such things?” His words serve as a stark reminder of the ideological differences that continue to shape India’s political landscape.
