PM Modi’s Stand Against Corruption: A Policy-Driven Governance

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a recent interview, reiterated his government’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption. He emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been focusing on policy-driven governance for the past decade. The Prime Minister also criticized the Opposition for what he termed the “glorification of the corrupts”, bringing in the reference of the “Khan Market Gang”.

A Nation Fed Up with Corruption

“The people of the country are fed up with corruption,” PM Modi stated, likening corruption to termites that are making the system hollow. He recalled his 2013-2014 poll campaign when he highlighted rampant corruption and the need to crack down on it, which led to many people expressing their anger and outrage.

Policy-Driven Governance: The Way Forward

PM Modi emphasized that his government made a conscious effort to identify systemic defaults and loopholes and weed them out after coming to power. He believes that if the country is policy-driven and a set of guidelines are laid out clearly with do’s and don’ts, this reduces the scope for corrupt practices.

“When the policy is laid out in black and white, the grey area is brought down to minimal levels, this reduces the scope for any discrimination,” he added. This focus on policy-driven governance is a key aspect of his administration’s approach.

Opposition and the “Khan Market Gang”

The Prime Minister did not hold back in his criticism of the Opposition over corruption. He pointed out that when the “big fish” are being caught, questions are being raised by vested interests. He questioned the motives of the “Khan Market Gang” and why it is framing narratives to save criminals from facing the law.

In conclusion, PM Modi’s stand against corruption and his emphasis on policy-driven governance highlight his administration’s commitment to creating a transparent and accountable system. His criticism of the Opposition and the “Khan Market Gang” underscores the challenges in this fight against corruption.
