In his address during the 111th episode of ‘Mann ki Baat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated the significance of June 30th as ‘Hool Diwas’, a day celebrated by India’s tribal communities in remembrance of Veer Sidhu-Kanhu. This day marks the valiant resistance led by these tribal leaders against the oppressive British rule in 1855, two years prior to India’s first war of independence.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted the courageous stand of Veer Sidhu-Kanhu in Santhal Pargana, Jharkhand, where they rallied thousands of Santhal compatriots against British atrocities and restrictions imposed upon them. The bravery and sacrifice displayed by Veer Sidhu-Kanhu in their fight for justice and freedom remain an enduring inspiration for the nation.

“On this day, we remember the indomitable spirit of Veer Sidhu-Kanhu, who fought fearlessly against foreign rulers,” stated Prime Minister Modi, emphasizing the historical significance of their struggle and ultimate sacrifice.

Prime Minister Modi’s address underscored the importance of honoring and preserving such historical narratives, which continue to inspire patriotism and unity among countrymen.

As India reflects on the legacy of Veer Sidhu-Kanhu on ‘Hool Diwas’, Prime Minister Modi encouraged citizens to draw strength from their example and uphold the values of justice, freedom, and national pride that they symbolize.
