Prime Minister Narendra Modi articulated a bold vision for transforming India into a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) at the ‘Journey Towards Viksit Bharat: A Post Union Budget 2024-25 Conference,’ organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in New Delhi. The conference provided a platform for discussing the implications of the Union Budget and the country’s economic development strategy.
In his address, Modi highlighted the significant strides made in poverty alleviation over the past decade. “In the last ten years, we have lifted 25 crore people out of poverty,” Modi stated, emphasizing the government’s focus on enhancing the Ease of Living and Quality of Life.
Modi pointed to key initiatives such as the Mudra Scheme, Startup India, and Standup India as critical components of this progress. These programs have collectively enabled over 8 crore people to establish their own businesses, demonstrating a strong commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and economic self-reliance.
The Prime Minister also detailed the provisions of the latest Union Budget, including a robust ₹2 lakh crore PM Package. This package is designed to benefit over 4 crore young Indians by improving their skills and enhancing the global competitiveness of Indian products. Additionally, the budget introduces new internship programs and EPFO contribution incentives, aimed at boosting job creation and supporting employers.
“This budget represents a comprehensive strategy to drive economic growth and empower our youth,” Modi explained. “By investing in skill development and providing targeted support to new and existing businesses, we are working to ensure that India’s workforce is equipped to compete on a global stage.”
The conference, attended by a wide range of industry leaders and policymakers, was an opportunity to explore the practical implications of these initiatives and discuss strategies for achieving the vision of a developed India. With a clear focus on economic reforms and support for entrepreneurship, the government aims to set India on a path of sustainable development and international competitiveness.
