Ladakh LG Kavinder Gupta Condoles Loss of Lives in Kathua, Kishtwar Cloud Burst Incidents

In the wake of tragic cloud burst incidents in Kathua and Kishtwar districts, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and assured that the administration is working round the clock to provide assistance to the affected families.

Speaking to reporters, Gupta confirmed that seven people have lost their lives in Kathua, while the death toll in Kishtwar continues to rise as rescue operations are underway. “This is an unfortunate tragedy that has struck our people. The government is making every possible effort to support the kin of the deceased and those affected,” he said.

He added that the Union Home Minister has issued clear directives to ensure that there are no shortcomings in relief and rehabilitation efforts. Teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local administration have been deployed to carry out rescue and relief operations in the affected areas.

Gupta emphasized that the government is committed to providing immediate financial assistance to the families of the victims and relief to those who have suffered property and livelihood losses. Medical aid, temporary shelters, and food supplies are also being arranged in coordination with local authorities.

The Lt. Governor further stated that the administration is closely monitoring the situation and ensuring swift evacuation of people from vulnerable areas to prevent further casualties. He urged citizens to remain cautious during the ongoing monsoon season and to promptly report emergencies to authorities.
