PM Modi Emphasises Natural Farming Push at Assam Ammonia Urea Project Bhoomi Pujan

Date:

During the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony of the Ammonia Urea Project of Assam Valley Fertilizer and Chemical Company Ltd, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the government’s strong commitment to promoting natural farming across the country. Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that sustainable and farmer-friendly agricultural practices are a key priority of the central government.

PM Modi drew attention to the launch of the National Mission on Natural Farming, describing it as a major initiative aimed at reducing farmers’ input costs while protecting soil health and the environment. He said the mission has already connected lakhs of farmers nationwide, helping them adopt chemical-free and sustainable farming methods.

The Prime Minister also underlined the government’s efforts to strengthen farmers through collective institutions. He noted that more than 10,000 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) have been formed in recent years, enabling farmers to come together, access better markets, improve bargaining power, and increase their incomes.

Highlighting the broader vision behind these initiatives, PM Modi said natural farming and FPOs are crucial steps towards making Indian agriculture more resilient, profitable, and environmentally sustainable. He added that such measures will play a significant role in ensuring long-term food security and boosting rural prosperity.

The event marked an important milestone for Assam’s fertilizer infrastructure, with the new ammonia urea project expected to enhance domestic fertilizer production and support farmers in the region.
