A significant administrative meeting was held in Leh on January 17, 2026, to finalize arrangements for the upcoming 16th National Voters’ Day (NVD) celebrations in Ladakh. Shri Ghulam Mohd, JKAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Leh, chaired the session with senior officials to ensure thorough planning and maximum public engagement ahead of the January 25 event.

The meeting focused on voter awareness campaigns, felicitation of newly eligible electors, and the issuance of Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) to first‑time voters. Emphasis was placed on youth involvement with NCC students participating actively in outreach efforts that reflect the theme “My India, My Vote.”

In a push to widen electoral participation, officials also discussed the display of awareness materials at venues of major public events such as the Khelo India Winter Games, aiming to integrate civic awareness with cultural and sports celebrations in the Union Territory.

The main district‑level function is scheduled to take place at DIHAR, Leh, with an online inauguration by the Honourable Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. The event underscores Ladakh’s commitment to strengthening democratic participation and civic responsibility.
