The transport service camps were organised at Sumoor on February 28, 2026 and Diskit on March 2, 2026.

During the camps, officials received and processed 126 applications on the spot, providing immediate assistance to citizens.

Multiple Transport Services Provided

A range of transport-related services were offered during the camps, including:

  • Driving tests
  • Issuance of learner’s licences
  • Vehicle fitness inspections
  • Renewal of vehicle permits
  • Vehicle registration services
  • Other transport-related assistance

The camps helped residents complete essential documentation and procedures without travelling long distances to administrative offices.

Road Safety Awareness for Local Residents

Along with administrative services, road safety awareness sessions were also conducted for local residents. Officials highlighted the importance of safe driving practices, responsible road behaviour and strict compliance with traffic rules and regulations.

Initiative to Improve Access to Public Services

Officials said the initiative was designed to make transport services more accessible, transparent and citizen-centric, especially for people living in remote and high-altitude areas of Ladakh.

Such outreach programmes are expected to improve public convenience and strengthen governance by bringing essential services closer to communities in far-flung regions.
