DIET Leh Conducts Two-Day Training Programme for Anganwadi Workers to Strengthen Early Childhood Education

Leh: The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh has started a two-day training programme for Anganwadi workers aimed at strengthening their capacity in early childhood care and education. The training is being conducted with support from resource persons of Zampa Foundation Pvt. Ltd.

Around 160 Anganwadi workers from different parts of Leh district are participating in the programme, which focuses on improving their skills in handling young children and enhancing the quality of early childhood education at the grassroots level.

Focus on Early Childhood Development

The training programme was inaugurated by Mirza Mehdi, Principal of DIET Leh, who welcomed the resource persons from Zampa Foundation and the participating Anganwadi workers.

In his address, Mehdi highlighted the crucial responsibility of Anganwadi workers in nurturing children during the early years of their development.

He encouraged participants to actively engage in the sessions, noting that the early years of a child’s life form the foundation for future learning and overall development.

Importance of NEP 2020 in Foundational Education

Tsering Yangdol, Head of Department at DIET Leh, also addressed the participants and emphasised the vital role played by Anganwadi workers in shaping young minds.

She highlighted the importance of the foundational stage of education and stressed the need to incorporate the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in early childhood education practices.

Interactive Sessions and Practical Demonstrations

The training programme will continue for two days and includes interactive sessions, group discussions and practical demonstrations conducted by experts from Zampa Foundation.

The sessions are designed to equip Anganwadi workers with effective teaching strategies and child development approaches that support the holistic growth of children.

Officials said the initiative reflects DIET Leh’s commitment to strengthening early childhood education and supporting Anganwadi workers in their important role within the education system.
