Workshop in Leh Strengthens Credit Access for MSMEs and SHGs Under RAMP Programme

Leh: A workshop titled “LA-12: Workshop with Bankers for Increasing Outreach Lead” was organised in Leh district under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. The initiative aimed to improve awareness and access to institutional credit for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the Union Territory of Ladakh.

The workshop was held at the Conference Hall of the District Industries Centre (DIC) Leh, bringing together entrepreneurs, bankers and government officials to strengthen credit linkages and enhance financial awareness.

Participation from Local Entrepreneurs

Around 30 entrepreneurs and SHG members from sectors such as food processing, pashmina, handicrafts and handloom participated in the programme.

The sessions provided participants with insights into financial schemes, credit access and government support available for small businesses.

Experts Provide Guidance on MSME Financing

The workshop featured expert guidance from key representatives of the banking and financial ecosystem, including Stanzin Dolker, Lead District Manager; Tsewang Tamchos, Manager at State Bank of India; Tsewang Dorjey, Assistant General Manager at NABARD; Stanzen Paksang, Senior Manager at SIDCO; K. Isfindyar Khan, Inspector at the State Taxes Department (GST Office); and Asiya Tabassum, District Programme Manager at the Ladakh Rural Livelihoods Mission.

Resource persons conducted detailed sessions on MSME loan schemes, credit facilitation, documentation requirements and procedures for accessing institutional finance.

Awareness on Government Schemes and Compliance

Participants were also guided on Udyam Registration, GST compliance and various government schemes, including the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) and the RAMP Programme.

Promoting Financial Discipline and Digital Transactions

The workshop enabled direct interaction between bankers and entrepreneurs, allowing participants to clarify queries related to loan eligibility, working capital requirements and financial management practices needed to expand their businesses.

Officials also emphasised the importance of digital transactions, proper bookkeeping and financial discipline for MSMEs.

Boost to Financial Inclusion and Local Enterprise Growth

Officials noted that such initiatives are crucial for strengthening financial inclusion, improving credit absorption capacity and supporting the growth of local enterprises in Ladakh.

The workshops are expected to lead to more MSME loan applications, improved financial preparedness and stronger collaboration between financial institutions and entrepreneurs in the region.

The programme forms part of the approved activities for the financial year 2025–26 under the RAMP Programme, which aims to enhance the competitiveness, growth and sustainability of MSMEs in the Union Territory.
