L-G Vinai Kumar Saxena Inaugurates RDD Complex, Resource Centre & Co-Working Space in Kargil

Kargil, April 12, 2026: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Vinai Kumar Saxena inaugurated the newly constructed Rural Development Department (RDD) Complex, District Resource Centre, and a modern Co-Working Space at Kurbathang in Kargil.


₹19.56 Crore RDD Complex to Boost Governance

The RDD Complex, built at a cost of ₹19.56 crore, brings key administrative offices under one roof, including:

  • Directorate
  • Assistant Commissioner Development
  • District Panchayat Officer

The facility also houses a Resource Centre, Library, and Conference Hall, aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and coordination.


Strengthening Rural Development & Governance

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor expressed confidence that the new infrastructure will:

  • Strengthen rural planning and institutional capacity
  • Improve delivery of government schemes
  • Benefit remote and rural areas of Kargil

He said the project aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat, promoting inclusive and sustainable development.


Focus on Strategic & Holistic Development

Highlighting Ladakh’s strategic importance due to its proximity to international borders, the LG stressed a balanced approach combining:

  • Border security
  • Infrastructure development
  • Tourism promotion

He emphasized that such initiatives are crucial for livelihood generation and self-reliance in the region.


Push for Local Products in Global Markets

The Lieutenant Governor underlined the potential of Ladakh’s unique products such as:

  • Pashmina
  • Apricot
  • Sea buckthorn

He stressed the need for better packaging, branding, and marketing strategies to enhance their global competitiveness and assured support for strengthening value chains and market linkages.


Co-Working Space to Promote Startups & Innovation

The LG also inaugurated a Co-Working Space established by the Department of Industries and Commerce, aimed at:

  • Encouraging entrepreneurship and startups
  • Providing modern shared workspace and infrastructure
  • Enabling networking and skill development opportunities

The facility is expected to serve as a collaborative hub for youth, freelancers, and professionals, fostering innovation in the Union Territory.
