Chief Secretary Reviews Preparations for Buddha Relics Exposition, Engages Ladakh Goba Association

Leh, April 2026: Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, held an interaction with members of the All Ladakh Goba Association to review preparations for the upcoming Sacred Buddha Relics Exposition, a major spiritual event scheduled next month.


Community Participation Key to Successful Program

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary emphasised the important role of village heads (Gobas) in ensuring smooth program and public participation. He urged them to actively engage local communities and support administrative efforts for the successful conduct of the exposition.

The interaction focused on strengthening coordination between the administration and grassroots leadership.


Preparations for Major Spiritual Event

The Sacred Buddha Relics Exposition is scheduled to be held from May 1, 2026, coinciding with Buddha Purnima, and is expected to attract large numbers of devotees, tourists, and dignitaries.

Officials highlighted that the event will be a historic and culturally significant occasion, taking place in Ladakh after several decades.


Focus on Logistics and Public Facilities

Key areas discussed during the interaction included:

The exposition is expected to boost religious tourism and global visibility for Ladakh, showcasing its rich Buddhist heritage and cultural traditions.

The administration reiterated its commitment to making the event a well-organised and memorable spiritual gathering, with coordinated efforts from all stakeholders, including community leaders and government departments.
