Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman is on an official visit to France. A key event during this visit will be the ‘India-France Economic and Financial Dialogue’ (EFD). This dialogue will be co-chaired by Smt. Sitharaman and the French Minister for Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, Mr. Roland Lescure. The meeting will take place in Aix-en-Provence. Under the EFD, both countries will discuss potential opportunities to enhance mutual cooperation across various sectors and further strengthen economic ties between India and France.
During this visit, the Union Finance Minister will meet with select global CEOs and participate in a business roundtable. She will speak about India’s robust macroeconomic position, reforms, investment opportunities, and long-term growth prospects.
Smt. Sitharaman will also participate in a panel discussion on “How to foster the growth of the new middle class” at ‘Les Rencontres Économiques d’Aix-en-Provence’. Organized by Le Cercle des économistes, this forum brings together leaders, policymakers, and experts from around the world to discuss key economic issues.
The Union Finance Minister will visit the ‘International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor’ (ITER), a major global nuclear fusion project involving over 30 countries, including India and France. She will also visit France’s national cybersecurity hub, ‘Campus Cyber,’ to discuss best practices regarding cyber resilience, innovation, and digital economy security.
Finance Minister Smt. Sitharaman will also meet Mr. Renaud Muselier, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region. They will discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in key areas such as investment, innovation, clean energy, technology, and regional economic partnerships. (PIB)
