Flipkart Opens 2.5 Lakh New Job Opportunities Across the Country Before Festive Rush

Date:

E-commerce marketplace Flipkart announced on Tuesday that it has created over 2.5 lakh direct and indirect job opportunities across the country to meet rising demand ahead of the upcoming festive season.

In a statement, the company noted that approximately 75,000 of these roles are being filled by individuals entering the workforce for the first time, representing nearly 30 percent of the total opportunities.

This hiring drive is being conducted across more than 7,000 Ekart facilities nationwide, including fulfillment centers, sortation hubs, and last-mile delivery operations.

Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President (Supply Chain, Customer Experience, and Re-commerce) at Flipkart Group, said, “The festive season brings India’s entire commerce ecosystem together, and our supply chain plays a pivotal role in making this happen. This year, we are significantly expanding our fulfillment and last-mile networks to meet growing customer demand while simultaneously creating job opportunities across the country.”

According to the company, last-mile delivery roles will account for 60 percent of the new positions, generating approximately 1.4 lakh additional job opportunities. To cater to the surge in demand, Flipkart is also adding over 900 new festive delivery hubs. These hubs aim to support expansion needs in Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets as well as for its quick-commerce service, Flipkart Minutes.

Flipkart stated that women now comprise more than 20 percent of its supply chain workforce.

Flipkart’s rival, Amazon India, has also created over 1.6 lakh seasonal job opportunities within its operations network ahead of the festive season. Meanwhile, Meesho announced last month that it expects the creation of over 10 lakh seasonal job opportunities across its seller and logistics ecosystems to meet rising demand.
