SEMICON India 2026 Begins Today; PM Modi to Inaugurate 5th Edition in Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the fifth edition of SEMICON India 2026 today at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi. Semiconductor companies, investors, policymakers, researchers, startups, and academicians from across the globe will participate in this three-day event, which runs from September 17 to 19.

The theme of this year’s event is “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.” The conference will focus on India’s growing semiconductor and electronics ecosystem, as well as the country’s role in the global supply chain.

SEMICON India 2026 is being jointly organised by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and SEMI. The exhibition will feature over 600 companies, including approximately 300 international firms. Spanning an area of ​​15,000 square meters, the event is expected to host more than 150 speakers.

The event will feature pavilions from six countries and 12 state governments. Additionally, special platforms have been created for startups, innovation, students, skill development, and women’s participation in the semiconductor sector. Around 40 startups will showcase their technologies and products at the Startup Pavilion.

The ‘Sand to Silicon to Systems’ Value Chain Experience will also be showcased for the first time at the event. Through this, visitors will have the opportunity to understand the entire semiconductor value chain ranging from materials and manufacturing to advanced packaging, chip design, electronics, and systems.

Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi held a roundtable meeting with key executives from the semiconductor industry. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, he called upon the industry to increase its participation in skilling, innovation, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

Representatives from several major companies and institutions including Micron, Infineon, Applied Materials, ASML, AMD, Intel, Tata Electronics, Foxconn, Lam Research, NXP, IBM Research, and SEMI participated in the meeting.
