Indian athletes delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Asian Para Games held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, winning several medals in para-athletics and judo. Rinku Hooda and Ajeet Singh Yadav won the gold and silver medals, respectively, in the men’s F46 javelin throw event. India continued its medal-winning run in the women’s 1500m T12/T13 final, where Soumya Kumar claimed gold and Radha Venkatesh secured silver, adding to the country’s medal tally.
Rinku secured the top spot in the javelin throw event with a throw of 65.11 metres, while Ajit followed closely behind with 65.02 metres. Indonesia’s Saktyono won the bronze medal with a distance of 55.30 metres, completing the podium.
In the women’s 1500m race, Soumya won the gold medal by crossing the finish line in a time of 5:12.39, while Radha secured the silver medal with a time of 5:30.90. Japan’s Mana Sasaki, despite recording a better time than both Indian athletes, won the bronze medal based on the event’s Raza Points scoring.
India also added a silver medal in para-judo through Kokila in the women’s J2 under-52kg category. She finished second after losing to Kyrgyzstan’s Aibike Ulanbek Kyzy by ippon in 21 seconds.
The medal-winning performances underscored India’s growing presence in para-sports, with athletes earning podium finishes in both para-athletics and para-judo at the continental event in Japan.
