Nehru Era Criticized: PM Modi Accuses Congress of Undermining Military Valor

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a passionate address at a public gathering in Haryana’s Bhiwani, where he launched a blistering critique of the opposition, alleging their persistent efforts to undermine the valor of the Indian military and politicize issues such as One Rank One Pension (OROP).

PM Modi invoked the memory of the 1962 Indo-China war, accusing the Nehru-Gandhi family and the Congress party of unjustly blaming the military leadership under then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru for the nation’s defeat. “In 1962, when the bubble of Pandit Nehru’s aura burst and we faced defeat at the hands of China, the Congress blamed our military for it,” Modi asserted, insinuating a historical pattern of disrespect towards the armed forces.

Continuing his onslaught, Modi accused the opposition of maintaining a vindictive attitude towards the military, evident in their handling of the OROP issue. He lambasted the Congress for what he characterized as mere tokenism, exemplified by throwing currency notes, without genuine commitment to addressing the grievances of retired armed forces personnel.

“What it means to implement OROP, they (Congress) didn’t understand. We came and implemented OROP properly,” Modi proclaimed, underscoring his government’s dedication to honoring the sacrifices of military veterans.

The Prime Minister’s fervent address in Haryana underscores the enduring political discourse surrounding national security and military welfare in India. By directly confronting the opposition, Modi sought to portray his government as the stalwart defender of the military’s dignity and the champion of veterans’ rights.

Modi’s remarks are poised to ignite further debate and scrutiny on issues pertaining to national security and military welfare, shaping the narrative as the nation approaches the upcoming elections.
