Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas, highlighted the remarkable transformation in Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 five years ago. Addressing the nation, Modi emphasized India’s commitment to overcoming development challenges in these regions and showcased significant progress achieved in infrastructure, tourism, and cultural revival.
In his address, PM Modi lauded the strides made in Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir, underscoring the rapid development and positive changes observed since the removal of the special status. He pointed out that the regions are now prominent hosts for global events, such as the G-20 summit, reflecting their growing importance on the international stage.
Modi noted the flourishing infrastructure in the region, including the resurgence of tourism, the reopening of cinemas in Kashmir after decades, and the revival of traditional cultural events. “The abrogation of Article 370 marked the beginning of a new chapter for Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir,” Modi said. “These regions are not only witnessing unprecedented development but are also embracing peace and harmony.”
The Prime Minister also highlighted the socio-economic advancements made, including enhanced connectivity and improved living standards. He emphasized that the government’s efforts have been focused on fostering development while ensuring that the benefits reach every citizen, including the reopening of cultural practices like the Tazia procession in Srinagar.
Modi’s remarks underscored the government’s vision for a prosperous future for Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir, celebrating the regions’ transition from conflict and challenges to a phase of growth and stability. He reiterated the commitment to continue supporting and developing these areas, ensuring that they remain integral to India’s progress.
