Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to the landslide-affected Wayanad district in Kerala on Saturday, August 10, 2024, to oversee disaster response efforts and support affected communities. The visit follows recent landslides that have severely impacted the region.
During his visit, Modi will stop at several key locations including a relief camp, a hospital, and the Bailey bridge constructed by the Indian Army. The Bailey bridge has played a critical role in facilitating relief and rescue operations by connecting areas that were otherwise cut off due to the landslides.
In addition to these site visits, the Prime Minister will conduct an aerial survey of the disaster zone to assess the extent of the damage and the progress of the relief efforts. This aerial perspective is expected to provide valuable insights into the scale of the disaster and the effectiveness of the ongoing response.
Prime Minister Modi will arrive at Kannur airport via a special flight and then proceed to Wayanad by Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter. His visit is aimed at demonstrating the central government’s support for the affected areas and ensuring that relief operations are proceeding effectively.
