Prime Minister Modi Conducts Aerial Survey of Landslide-Affected Wayanad Before On-Ground Visit

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook an aerial survey of the landslide-affected areas in Wayanad, Kerala, today to assess the extent of the damage before physically visiting the disaster-stricken locations. The aerial reconnaissance provided crucial insights into the scale of the landslides and the affected regions.

During the aerial survey, Modi observed the origin of the landslide, which began in the area surrounding the Iruvazhinji Puzha (River). The survey offered a comprehensive view of the landslide’s impact, including the worst-affected areas of Punchirimattam, Mundakkai, and Chooralmala.

The aerial inspection allowed Modi to understand the severity of the disaster and the challenges involved in the relief and recovery efforts. The Prime Minister’s visit is part of a broader effort to mobilize resources and coordinate response activities to assist the affected communities.

“Viewing the impact from the air has given me a clearer understanding of the damage and the urgent need for coordinated relief efforts,” Modi said. “The central government is committed to providing all necessary support to help the people of Wayanad recover from this severe disaster.”

The aerial survey not only highlighted the immediate damage but also facilitated the identification of key areas that require focused attention for emergency aid and reconstruction. Following the aerial survey, Prime Minister Modi is expected to visit the affected areas on the ground to further assess the situation and engage with local officials and residents.

The central government is anticipated to announce additional relief measures in response to the findings from the aerial survey. These measures are likely to include financial aid, support for infrastructure repair, and assistance for displaced families.

Prime Minister Modi’s dual approach—conducting an aerial survey followed by a physical visit—reflects a thorough strategy to address the disaster comprehensively. As the response efforts continue, the insights gained from both the aerial and ground observations will be crucial in guiding the recovery process and ensuring effective support for the people of Wayanad.
