Princess Astrid of Belgium met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi today, leading a 300-member Economic Mission to India. The delegation is focused on boosting trade, investment, and collaboration in crucial sectors like technology, defence, and life sciences.

PM Modi, welcoming the Belgian delegation, stated, “Deeply appreciate her initiative to lead a 300-member Economic Mission to India. Excited to explore new opportunities in trade, innovation, and academic exchanges.”

Belgium has consistently been one of India’s top trading partners in Europe, and this visit further reinforces that relationship. The mission is exploring trade synergies in diamonds, pharmaceuticals, clean energy, and high-tech manufacturing. Belgian enterprises are keen to expand their presence in India’s industrial and financial sectors, tapping into its dynamic market.

Beyond business, the visit underscores the importance of cultural and educational ties. Indian and Belgian institutions are engaging in dialogues to promote student exchange programs and collaborative research initiatives.
