European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen Visits India for Bilateral Talks

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is on a two-day bilateral visit to India, accompanied by members of the European College of Commissioners. The high-level delegation engaged in discussions with Indian officials, reinforcing the strong diplomatic and economic ties between India and the European Union.

On Friday, the delegation held talks at Hyderabad House in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ursula von der Leyen. The meeting was attended by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and other key Indian ministers. The discussions focused on trade, investment, technology collaboration, and global geopolitical challenges.

As a significant highlight of the visit, the European Commission delegation arrived at Hyderabad House on a hydrogen fuel cell-powered bus. This initiative, developed in collaboration with Tata Motors and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), underscores India’s commitment to clean energy and sustainable transportation.

During the bilateral meeting, PM Modi and Ursula von der Leyen explored ways to strengthen India-EU relations, particularly in areas of green energy, digital transformation, and defense cooperation. The visit marks another step toward deeper collaboration between India and the European Union in shaping a sustainable and resilient global economy.
