PM Modi and New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon Strengthen Ties, Vow Joint Fight Against Terrorism

Date:

During a joint press statement with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the shared stance between the two nations on combating terrorism. Referring to past tragedies, Modi said, “We have the same opinion on terrorism. Whether it is the terror attack on Christchurch on March 15, 2019, or Mumbai 26/11, terrorism is unacceptable in every manner. Strict action is necessary against terror perpetrators.”

The statement highlighted the importance of international cooperation in the fight against terrorism, with both leaders stressing the need for decisive action against terror perpetrators. Modi emphasized that India and New Zealand would work together to tackle not only terrorism but also separatist and extremist elements that threaten global peace.

“We will work together against terrorist, separatist and extremist elements,” Modi added, signaling stronger bilateral cooperation between the two countries in addressing these serious global threats.

In the same breath, Prime Minister Modi also brought up India’s concerns regarding anti-India activities in New Zealand. He noted, “We have shared our concern regarding anti-India activities in New Zealand. We are sure we will keep getting the New Zealand government’s assistance against these illegal activities.”

This collaborative tone is expected to further solidify ties between India and New Zealand, particularly in the fields of security and counterterrorism. Both nations are determined to enhance their strategic partnership while ensuring that their respective citizens are safeguarded from the scourge of terrorism and related illegal activities.
