Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta on Monday welcomed the Union Budget 2026, appreciating its comprehensive coverage across various sectors aimed at fostering overall development.
Gupta said, “Overall, this budget has covered all sectors for comprehensive development.” He drew parallels with earlier corridor projects like the Ram Mandir Corridor and Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, which had significant positive impacts on local communities and tourism.
Highlighting the budget’s new initiatives, the LG added, “Similarly, new projects have been added to boost infrastructure and promote tourism across the states, as highlighted in the budget.” He expressed hope that these measures would stimulate economic growth and create employment opportunities, especially in regions like Ladakh that have immense tourism potential.
Gupta’s remarks reflect optimism about the government’s strategic focus on infrastructure development and cultural tourism as engines of growth. The emphasis on connectivity and tourism infrastructure is seen as vital for enhancing the socio-economic landscape of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
The Union Budget 2026’s targeted approach aims to build on previous successes while opening new avenues for sustainable development, with special attention to the unique needs of diverse regions.
Gupta’s endorsement signals strong support from Ladakh’s leadership for the budget’s vision of inclusive growth and regional upliftment, aligning with the broader national agenda of development and prosperity.
