Two-Day Disaster Management Awareness Programme by NDRF Concludes at Khaltse in Leh

Leh: A two-day Disaster Management Awareness Programme organised by the 13 Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) concluded at Sub Division Khaltse in Leh district, aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness and community resilience.

The programme was conducted under the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Leh, with participation from government officials, employees and members of the public.

Training on Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response

During the awareness programme, participants received practical training on disaster preparedness, rescue techniques and emergency response measures.

Experts from the NDRF demonstrated key safety procedures, including earthquake safety, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), fire safety and basic rescue operations.

Building Community Resilience

The initiative focused on equipping participants with the knowledge and skills required to respond effectively during emergencies and natural disasters.

Officials said the programme aims to strengthen community resilience by increasing public awareness about disaster management practices.

Practical Demonstrations and Public Participation

The training sessions included live demonstrations and interactive activities, enabling participants to better understand the correct procedures for responding to emergency situations.

Authorities said such programmes are essential for preparing communities to handle disasters effectively and minimising risks to life and property.

The 13 Battalion NDRF emphasised the importance of continued awareness and training initiatives to ensure that both officials and citizens remain prepared for potential disasters in the region.
