Polypropylene Unit at Kochi Refinery to Boost Manufacturing

Highlighting the importance of the petroleum sector, PM Modi said expanding the sector is essential for initiatives such as Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

He laid the foundation stone for a polypropylene unit at the Kochi Refinery, which is expected to produce around four lakh tonnes of polypropylene annually.

The plant will support several industries, including:

  • Packaging
  • Textiles

Floating Solar Project to Promote Clean Energy

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for a 50-megawatt floating solar project at West Kallada.

He said India is emerging as a major manufacturing hub and advancing rapidly in sectors such as artificial intelligence and semiconductors, which will increase the demand for energy.

PM Modi noted that India is already among the top countries in solar power generation, and Kerala has significant potential for floating solar projects due to its large number of water bodies.

Major Road Projects to Improve Connectivity

The Prime Minister also highlighted several road infrastructure projects launched in Kerala.

The six-lane road project improving connectivity to Azhikkal Port will enhance trade and logistics, while the six-lane Kozhikode Bypass is expected to reduce traffic congestion and save travel time.
