Leh, April 15: Bringing governance closer to remote communities, the Ladakh administration conducted the “Jung sJabs” outreach programme at Fotoksar village, aiming to deliver essential public services directly at the doorstep of residents in one of the region’s far-flung areas.
The initiative, part of the broader “Administration at Your Doorsteps” campaign, saw active participation from multiple government departments that set up on-site service counters to address public grievances and provide immediate assistance to villagers.
Essential services brought to villagers’ doorstep
During the camp, residents were able to access a range of services without having to travel long distances to administrative centres. These included Aadhaar enrolment and updates, revenue services, social welfare scheme enrolments, healthcare facilitation, and documentation support. Officials also guided beneficiaries on various central and Union Territory welfare schemes.
The outreach drive was designed to ensure that even the most remote villages benefit from government schemes in a timely and efficient manner, reducing delays caused by geography and harsh weather conditions.
Focus on last-mile governance
Officials said the main objective of the programme is to strengthen last-mile delivery of services, particularly in regions like Ladakh where difficult terrain and scattered habitations often make access to administrative offices challenging.
By bringing multiple departments under one roof in a village setting, the administration aims to reduce dependency on travel to district headquarters and make governance more accessible and citizen-friendly.
Locals welcome initiative
Residents of Fotoksar village welcomed the initiative, describing it as a highly convenient and beneficial step. Many said the camp helped them complete pending documentation and access welfare services within their own village, saving both time and travel costs.
They also appreciated the presence of multiple departments at a single location, which allowed them to resolve several issues in one visit.
Continued outreach planned
Officials reiterated that such programmes will continue to be organised across other remote villages under the “Jung sJabs” initiative, with the aim of achieving wider coverage of government schemes and strengthening grassroots governance in Ladakh.
The administration said it remains committed to ensuring inclusive and accessible governance, especially for communities living in geographically challenging areas.
