Nubra (Ladakh): The Administrative Secretary for Higher Education, Bhanu Prabha, conducted a comprehensive review of enrolment trends, academic performance, and infrastructure facilities at Government Degree College Nobra, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to strengthening higher education in remote regions.

During the visit, the Secretary held detailed interactions with faculty members, students, and administrative staff to assess the current academic framework and challenges faced by the institution. Discussions focused on improving student intake, particularly from underserved and geographically isolated areas of the Nubra Valley.

Focus on Increasing Enrolment

Officials reviewed ongoing efforts to boost enrolment, with special emphasis on outreach initiatives in remote villages. The aim is to ensure that students from far-flung regions have better access to higher education opportunities.

The college administration presented a report on enrolment strategies, academic structure, and student support systems, highlighting both achievements and existing gaps.

Academic Performance and Challenges

Faculty members briefed the Secretary on academic activities, curriculum implementation, and measures being taken to improve learning outcomes. They also pointed out challenges such as limited resources and student engagement issues, which are common in remote educational institutions.

The review stressed the importance of maintaining academic standards while adapting to the unique needs of students in high-altitude and sparsely populated regions.

Infrastructure Review

A detailed inspection of the college infrastructure was also carried out, including:

  • Newly constructed academic blocks
  • Hostel and basic facilities
  • Essential amenities for students and staff

While acknowledging the progress made, the Secretary noted the need for further upgrades to meet evolving academic and infrastructural requirements.
