Ladakh: A review meeting on the implementation of the Vibrant Villages Programme–I (VVP-I) was held at the DC Office, Leh, to assess the overall progress of ongoing developmental works in border villages of Ladakh.
The meeting was convened to evaluate the physical and financial progress of sanctioned projects under the Vibrant Villages Programme and convergence schemes aimed at improving infrastructure and living conditions in remote and strategically important villages of Leh district.
During the review, officials conducted a detailed assessment of ongoing and approved works, including infrastructure development, village-level facilities, and other essential public utilities being executed under the programme. The discussions also covered the status of project implementation, pending works, and new proposals submitted by various departments for further approval.
A key focus of the meeting was on ensuring strict monitoring and timely execution of all developmental works. Departments were directed to ensure that all project-related updates, including geo-tagged photographs of construction sites, are regularly uploaded on the official Digital VVP-I portal. This was emphasized as a crucial step for ensuring transparency, accountability, and real-time verification of project progress.
Officials highlighted that the digital monitoring system plays a vital role in tracking implementation at every stage and helps ensure that fund utilization and physical progress are properly documented and verified.
The review also included discussions on infrastructure development in identified vibrant villages, covering road connectivity, community infrastructure, tourism-related facilities, and essential services. Departments were instructed to prioritize critical gaps in infrastructure and ensure that Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for new proposals are submitted without delay for further approval.
It was also stressed that all departments must ensure timely completion of ongoing projects within stipulated deadlines, strictly adhering to approved technical specifications and quality standards. Authorities directed that completed works should be certified promptly, and financial processes such as billing and fund utilization must be aligned with actual progress on the ground.
In addition, the meeting underlined the importance of community engagement and awareness activities. Departments were instructed to organize awareness programmes and service delivery camps in their respective areas to ensure that government schemes and benefits reach residents of remote and border villages effectively.
Senior officers from various departments, including engineering wings, rural development, tourism, health, education, and planning, participated in the meeting and shared updates on ongoing implementation and field-level challenges.
The Vibrant Villages Programme-I continues to serve as a key initiative for transforming border villages of Ladakh by strengthening infrastructure, improving connectivity, and enhancing access to essential public services, thereby supporting long-term sustainable development in strategically important regions.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the administration’s commitment to ensuring efficient, transparent, and time-bound execution of all developmental works under the programme.
