Union Minister for Social Justice and EmpowermentDr. Virendra Kumar launched the ‘PM-AJAY’ portal and the PM-AJAY mobile app for speedy and quality implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Scheduled Caste Abhyudaya Yojana (PM-AJAY). The scheme aims to transition from a paper-based system and processing to a fully digital system and real-time processing.
Dr. Virendra Kumar Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment launched the PM-AJAY portal and the AJAY mobile app in the presence of Shri B.L. Verma, Minister of State, Shri Sudhansh Pant, Secretary, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, and senior officials from the government’s Social Justice Department. Secretaries and senior officials from all states and union territories joined the event virtually.
The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment is implementing several welfare initiatives under the PM AJAY Scheme aimed at the socio-economic development of Scheduled Caste communities. The PM AJAY Mobile App aims to provide mobile access to planned services, assist in last-mile planning and implementation at the village level, improve grassroots monitoring, facilitate real-time reporting, and strengthen transparency and digital governance.
The PM Ajay mobile app has been developed as an integrated digital platform. Its purpose is to transform paperwork, such as surveys and preparation of Village Development Plans (VDPs), into a digital platform. The application provides easy access to information, monitoring, reporting, and beneficiary-centric services related to skill development, employment, and education schemes through a user-friendly mobile interface.
The following key components are integrated into the mobile application:
- Adarsh Gram component from the existing PMAGY portal.
- Grant-in-Aid (GIA) component under PM AJAY.
- Hostel component under PM AJAY.
Unified login system, ground-level planning, role-based access control, geo-tagging, dashboard reporting, mobile inspections, photo uploads, integration of information with existing portals. The Ajay App is an effective digital tool for improved efficiency, real-time monitoring, increased transparency, quick reporting, better coordination, and reduced dependence on desktop-based operations. This app will be useful for Ministry officials, State and District officials, implementing agencies, inspection officers, hostel administrators and field staff.
The PM-AJAY portal serves as a central command, enabling step-by-step fund flow. For the Adarsh Gram component, the portal provides comprehensive national, state, and district-level dashboards to monitor Adarsh Gram development based on 50 monitorable socio-economic indicators across 10 development sectors. It streamlines operations by automating step-by-step tracking once the Village Development Plan (VDP) is digitally approved. Additionally, for the Grant-in-Aid (GIA) component for skills and employment, the portal serves as a centralized planning mechanism and management information system (MIS). This MIS aggregates statewide data to track financial expenditures and fund allocations for livelihoods at large.
