Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the highest civilian honour of the Republic of Indonesia – ‘Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia’, during his visit to Indonesia. The President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has conferred this award on PM Modi. Prime Minister Modi had also been honoured last month with the highest national award of Seychelles – ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’. To date, more than 25 countries have conferred their highest national honour upon Prime Minister Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday. The two leaders discussed giving fresh momentum to the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across several key sectors, including energy, trade, maritime cooperation, and defence.
The meeting placed special emphasis on further strengthening defence and maritime cooperation and enhancing collaboration in areas such as critical minerals, food security, and the digital economy. Progress made under the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, established in May 2018, was also reviewed.
Earlier, a ceremonial reception was held at Istana Merdeka (Merdeka Palace), the Indonesian Presidential Palace, to formally welcome Prime Minister Modi. During the event, several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and bilateral agreements were signed between the two nations. Prime Minister Modi shared a video of the special welcome he received in Jakarta on the social media platform X. Accompanying the video, he wrote, “Highlights of the special welcome in Jakarta yesterday evening. Looking forward to the talks with President Prabowo Subianto today.”
On the second day of his visit to Indonesia, school children were seen standing with the national flags of India and Indonesia to welcome Prime Minister Modi. The Prime Minister approached them and acknowledged their greetings by waving back. Upon his arrival at the venue for the ceremonial reception, President Prabowo Subianto welcomed Prime Minister Modi with a warm embrace.
Subsequently, Prime Minister Modi met with senior Indonesian officials and ministers. President Prabowo Subianto also shook hands with members of the Indian delegation. After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi signed the visitors’ book at Istana Merdeka (the Presidential Palace). President Prabowo Subianto was also present on the occasion.
