Ladakh: Dr. Padma Gurmet, Director of the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa in Leh, has been honoured with the UT Ladakh State Award for the year 2025. The honour bestowed upon Dr. Gurmet is being viewed as significant recognition of his contributions to preserving Ladakh’s traditional medical heritage and advancing the Sowa-Rigpa system.

Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena presented this award to Dr. Gurmet during the UT State Award ceremony. A total of 36 distinguished individuals were honored at the event for their outstanding contributions and dedicated services across various fields between 2022 and 2025.
The faculty, staff, and students of the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, Leh, extended their heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Padma Gurmet on receiving this prestigious honor.
