The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PhonePe. Under this agreement, data obtained from PhonePe PulsePro will be utilized for infrastructure planning, economic analysis, and urban-rural development under the PM GatiShakti Mission.
Under this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), key metrics from PhonePe PulsePro will be integrated into the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan portal. This will provide government planners with insights based on local and micro-level data derived from PhonePe’s digital transactions. This data will strengthen existing datasets and facilitate better, smarter, and data-driven planning for national development.
MeitY Secretary Shri S. Krishnan stated that the localized, data-driven insights from PhonePe PulsePro would strengthen existing datasets and aid in understanding emerging market and regional trends. He welcomed this initiative within the framework of PM GatiShakti and described it as a significant step towards a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
PhonePe Pulse provides hyperlocal insights by analyzing aggregated and anonymized transaction data. It helps identify emerging trends across various regions, markets, and categories, enabling organizations to make better decisions by deriving actionable information from real-world activity.
PhonePe Limited, formerly known as PhonePe Private Limited, is a technology company that develops digital platforms for digital payments, distribution, and financial services.
Karthik Raghupathi, Head of Strategy at PhonePe, stated that the hyperlocal and near real-time data from PhonePe PulsePro would help in better understanding changing market trends. He expressed hope that this initiative would contribute to a robust data ecosystem and facilitate better, evidence-based planning.
