Team India secured the 10th position at the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai. The international skills competition concluded on September 27, with Team India securing six Silver Medals and 20 Medals for Excellence. India improved on its 13th-place finish at WorldSkills Lyon 2024, where it won four Bronze Medals and 12 Medals for Excellence.

More than 1,400 competitors from approximately 70 countries and regions participated in this six-day competition, held from September 22 to 27. India fielded its largest-ever contingent, comprising 70 competitors, across 63 skill categories. These skills spanned sectors such as advanced manufacturing, emerging technologies, engineering, creative industries, and specialized services.
India also secured 20 Medals for Excellence in 20 skill categories. These include Intelligent Security Technology, Mechatronics, Mobile Application Development, Electrical Installation, Fashion Technology, Automobile Technology, Health and Social Care, Industry 4.0, Chemical Laboratory Technology, Additive Manufacturing, and Robot Systems Integration.
The Indian team was coordinated by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, with support from Sector Skill Councils, industry partners, training institutes, and technical experts.
India participated in 11 new and emerging skill categories in this competition, including Dental Prosthetics, Digital Interactive Media Design, Heavy Vehicle Technology, Retail Sales, Unmanned Aerial Systems, Software Testing, and Aircraft Maintenance.
The Shanghai competition familiarized Indian participants and experts with international professional standards, emerging technologies, and global best practices, thereby supporting efforts to further strengthen India’s skill training and assessment ecosystem.
