Modi supports ‘Article 370’ film, says it is a brave and honest film

Date:

Jammu: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday lauded the upcoming film ‘Article 370’, starring Yami Gautam, which is based on the abrogation of the controversial constitutional provision that granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Modi said that the film will help people in getting correct information about the history and the current situation of the region.

“I have heard that a film on Article 370 is going to be released this week. It is a good thing as it will help people in getting correct information about what happened in Kashmir, why it happened, and how it benefited the people there,” Modi said while addressing a public rally in Jammu.

He added that the film will also showcase the bravery and sacrifice of the security forces and the intelligence agencies who fought against terrorism and separatism in the valley. “I congratulate the makers of the film for taking up such a sensitive and important subject. I hope that the film will inspire the youth of the country to join the forces of peace and development in Kashmir,” he said.

‘Article 370’, directed by National Award winner Aditya Suhas Jambhale and produced by Aditya Dhar, is set to hit the cinemas on February 23, 2024. The film stars Yami Gautam as an agent from the NIA (National Investigation Agency) who is assigned a secret mission to end the conflict economy and the terror network in Kashmir by abrogating Article 370 without bloodshed.

The film also features Priyamani, Arun Govil, Vaibhav Tatwawadi, Skand Thakur, Ashwini Koul, Kiran Karmarkar, Divya Seth Shah, Raj Zutshi, Sumit Kaul, Raj Arjun, Asit Gopinath Redij, Ashwani Kumar and Irawati Harshe Mayadev in pivotal roles.

The trailer of the film, which was released on February 8, has received positive response from the audience and the critics, who have praised the performance of Yami Gautam and the realistic portrayal of the Kashmir issue.

The film is not the first one to deal with the topic of Article 370, which was revoked by the Modi government on August 5, 2019, leading to the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories. Earlier, a short film titled ‘Article 370: Telling Kashmir’s Story, One Poet at a Time’ was released in 2020, which featured poets from both sides of the border expressing their views on the issue.

However, ‘Article 370’ is the first mainstream Bollywood film to tackle the subject, and is expected to generate a lot of interest and debate among the viewers. The film’s tagline reads: “The story of the world’s most dangerous mission”.
