Ladakhi Artists Honored with Prestigious National Awards

In a significant achievement for the cultural landscape of Ladakh, two local artists have been recognized with prestigious national awards. The Chief Executive Councilor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, Tashi Gyaltsan, took to social media to congratulate the awardees.

Tashi Jorgais, a renowned Ladakhi folk musician, has been selected for the esteemed Sangeet Natak Akademi Puraskar 2022. In addition, folk singer Padma Dolkar has been honored with the Ustaad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puruskar 2023.

In his congratulatory message, CEC Tashi Gyalson expressed immense pride and joy at this recognition. He stated, “This is a proud moment for Ladakh as your achievements serve as an inspiration to aspiring musicians and artists in Ladakh. My best wishes to both the artists in their future endeavours.”

Tashi Jorgais has been awarded for his contributions to the field of Folk Music in Ladakh, while Padma Dolkar has been recognized for her work in Folk Music & Dance in the region.

These awards not only honor the individual achievements of the artists but also highlight the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Ladakh. They serve as an inspiration for upcoming artists in the region and reinforce the importance of preserving and promoting local art forms.
