A seasoned leader, Radhakrishnan has earlier served as a Member of Parliament and Governor of two states. Radhakrishnan secured a decisive win against the opposition-backed candidate, with a margin that underlined not only the numerical strength of the NDA but also cross-party support. Several MPs from outside the ruling coalition are believed to have voted in his favour, reflecting his broad acceptability.
