Kargil (Ladakh): The Deputy Commissioner and CEO of LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, chaired a high-level meeting to review preparations for the safe and smooth transportation of Hajj pilgrims 2026 from Kargil to Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including SSP Kargil, representatives of the Hajj Committee Ladakh, and district administration officers, focusing on coordination and logistical planning.
Key Travel Arrangements
- The flag-off of pilgrims will take place on April 26 and 28, 2026, from the Cooperative Fruit Processing Unit, Kharool at 7:00 AM.
- Authorities have ensured that the convoy will reach Minimarg by 9:00 AM, with a strict cut-off time after which no vehicles will be allowed to proceed.
- Pilgrims have been advised to report at the venue well before departure time to avoid delays.
Safety and Coordination Measures
- The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Drass will coordinate with the Border Roads Organisation for timely road clearance.
- District Police will provide escort services up to Baltal, along with traffic management along the route.
- A Mobile Magistrate will accompany the convoy to ensure smooth coordination and address any issues on the way.
Medical and Emergency Support
- The Chief Medical Officer will deploy an ambulance up to Zero Point, stationed at Minimarg until all pilgrims safely cross towards Sonamarg.
Officials emphasised that these coordinated arrangements are aimed at ensuring a safe, timely, and hassle-free journey for pilgrims undertaking the sacred Hajj pilgrimage.
The review reflects the administration’s commitment to meticulous planning and inter-departmental coordination, given the challenging terrain and importance of the annual pilgrimage movement from Ladakh.
