Kargil (Ladakh): In a notable development in the field of healthcare and medical education, the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, attended the Haematology Update Conference at SMGS Hospital, Jammu as the Chief Guest. The event brought together leading medical experts, healthcare professionals, and researchers to discuss recent advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of blood-related disorders.

The participation of the CEC highlights Ladakh administration’s continued focus on strengthening the healthcare ecosystem and promoting specialised medical knowledge exchange between institutions inside and outside the Union Territory. Officials said such engagements are crucial for improving clinical expertise, patient care standards, and capacity building of medical professionals in the region.

During the conference, medical experts presented updated research findings and discussed emerging trends in haematology, including blood disorders, diagnostic innovations, and modern treatment approaches. The deliberations also focused on improving early detection systems and enhancing treatment outcomes for patients suffering from complex blood-related conditions.

Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, who himself belongs to the medical profession, emphasised the importance of continuous learning and collaboration among healthcare institutions. He highlighted that exposure to advanced medical conferences helps bridge the gap between regional healthcare facilities and leading national-level hospitals.

He also reiterated LAHDC Kargil’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Ladakh, noting that efforts are underway to improve diagnostic facilities, recruit specialised medical staff, and ensure better access to quality treatment in remote areas.

The CEC has consistently been involved in healthcare-related initiatives across Kargil district. In previous engagements, he has stressed the need for advanced diagnostic equipment, improved hospital infrastructure, and specialised medical training programmes to enhance healthcare delivery in high-altitude and geographically challenging regions like Ladakh.

Medical professionals attending the conference appreciated the participation of policymakers in such academic platforms, stating that it helps in better understanding ground-level healthcare challenges and aligning policy decisions with clinical needs.

Experts at the event also discussed the growing importance of technology-driven diagnostics, AI-assisted medical tools, and precision medicine in haematology, which are expected to significantly improve treatment accuracy and patient outcomes in the coming years.

Officials associated with the event noted that such conferences serve as an important platform for knowledge sharing between senior doctors, researchers, and healthcare administrators, ultimately benefiting patients through improved medical practices.

The SMGS Hospital in Jammu, where the conference was held, is one of the key tertiary care centres in the region and regularly hosts medical symposiums aimed at enhancing professional skills and updating clinical knowledge across specialties.

Overall, the participation of the LAHDC Kargil CEC in the Haematology Update Conference underscores the growing emphasis on medical collaboration and healthcare development between Ladakh and major medical institutions in Jammu and beyond, reinforcing efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and quality for people in remote regions.
