Noida Airport Operations Begin, Boosting Development, Employment and Infrastructure in the Region

Date:

A new chapter in the airport’s operations began on Monday morning at 7:55 AM with the successful landing of the first commercial flight arriving from Lucknow at Noida International Airport. The airport had been dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 28.

As the aircraft touched down on the runway, passengers welcomed the historic moment with applause. The aircraft was also accorded a traditional water cannon salute, a symbolic gesture marking the commencement of operations at the airport.

An atmosphere of excitement prevailed at the airport complex prior to the flight’s arrival. Many families, farmers, and groups of women farmers were present. For many of them, this was their first time flying; eagerness, thrill, and happiness were clearly visible on their faces.

Describing the occasion as a historic and emotional moment for the region, Local MLA Dhirendra Singh said, “This is a special moment that defies words. Now, all the farmers are waiting for the flight to take off. They will look at their land from the aircraft window and recall the days when they raised their children through farming.

Previously, agriculture was the primary source of livelihood, but today, people in this region have access to numerous new employment and business opportunities. This enables them to improve their standard of living and provide better education for their children.”

Meanwhile, Rakesh Kumar Singh, CEO of the Yamuna Authority, stated that this initiative realizes Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making air travel accessible to the common citizen.

He said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisioned an India where even a common citizen wearing chappals (slippers) could travel by air. Today, under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and with the Noida International Airport, that dream is becoming a reality. The first flight from the airport is carrying farmers from this region—who had given up their land for the project—to Lucknow. They will meet the Chief Minister to express their gratitude. This is a matter of pride and happiness for all of us.”

According to officials, the arrival of the first flight from Lucknow marks a significant operational milestone for Noida International Airport. Following its inauguration by the Prime Minister earlier this year, the airport is now transitioning towards full passenger operations in a phased manner.

Regular commercial services are expected to commence soon, following a symbolic inaugural flight that carried farmers who had provided land for the project. Officials aim to connect the airport with major cities across the country.

Government officials believe that this project will prove to be a significant step towards strengthening connectivity in Western Uttar Pradesh and the surrounding regions. It will boost employment, transportation, and economic activities, while also creating new opportunities for rural communities.
