High‑Powered Committee Meeting for Ladakh Issues Scheduled by Centre

Date:

Ladakh, January 18, 2026

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has scheduled the next High‑Powered Committee (HPC) meeting on Ladakh issues for late January 2026, marking a renewed phase of dialogue between the Union Territory administration and the Central Government. This development reflects the government’s continued commitment to engaging with local representatives on key concerns and developmental priorities in Ladakh.

The HPC is expected to address a range of matters including infrastructure development, livelihood opportunities, social welfare schemes, and long‑term strategies for balanced growth in both Leh and Kargil regions. By holding this consultative forum, the government aims to ensure inclusive progress that resonates with local aspirations while strengthening governance frameworks in the Union Territory

Political leaders in Ladakh have welcomed the announcement, calling it a positive step toward cooperative federalism and participatory governance. The BJP‑led Union Government’s facilitation of this meeting has been highlighted as a sign of responsiveness to regional needs and increased focus on effective implementation of Central schemes and policies.

With the HPC meeting on the horizon, stakeholders are optimistic that robust discussions will further reinforce Ladakh’s development trajectory and address long‑standing priorities of the people.
