Kisan Ghosti Training Camp Held at Kharu Under ATMA, 50 Farmers Trained on Latest Agriculture Technologies

Kharu: A one-day farmer training camp titled “Kisan Ghosti” was successfully conducted at Kharu Sub Division in Leh under the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA). The programme focused on farmer awareness and imparting training on the latest agricultural technologies suited to Ladakh’s unique climatic conditions.

Organized by the Agriculture Department, the event saw the participation of around 50 farmers from various villages of Kharu Sub Division.

Training on Greenhouse Farming, Vermicompost and Organic Practices

The training session was led by Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Mohd Ramzan, along with Agriculture Extension Officers Kunzang Dolma and Tsering Dolkar.

Key topics covered during the Kisan Ghosti included:

  • Package of practices for Ladakh Greenhouse cultivation
  • Preparation and benefits of vermicompost
  • Mushroom production techniques
  • Natural farming methods
  • Organic farming practices

Farmers were provided practical insights into improving productivity while maintaining soil health and sustainability in high-altitude conditions.

Awareness on Government Agriculture Schemes

In addition to technical training, participants were informed about various departmental schemes and subsidies available to support farmers in enhancing agricultural output and adopting modern techniques.

Officials emphasized that awareness and skill development are essential to strengthen agricultural resilience in Ladakh.

The Kisan Ghosti camp under ATMA aims to empower farmers with knowledge of innovative and sustainable farming practices, contributing to improved livelihoods and food security in the region.
